| | The best TOOL for SCHOOL! The first in this multi-interactive music series, "Smart Songs 1" introduces educational topics to young preschool through kindergarten age children in a fun-filled musical way. Kids learn about planetary orbit, planting seeds, characteristics of insects, months of the year, the four seasons, the five senses, personal safety, Spanish numbers, long vowels, counting patterns, play the popular clapping game, and more. A variety of subjects and concepts are set to lyrics that encourage children to sing along, mimic a phrase, move as directed, or shout a response. These songs provide a great foundation for what kids learn at home, as well as in school, and this producer is recognized by companies such as Scholastic, and associations such as NAPPA, for the quality, educational value or gross motor skill development that their titles offer. | | Tremendous Earth is tremendous! You will love the great music and intelligent humor while you absorb information about your cranial nerves, what, exactly, is fusion, and what countries are in South America. Amazingly, after you've listened to the album a few times, you'll find yourself sounding smart when you know how condensation works - and no one need know that you are quietly reviewing the lyrics to the mystical, a cappella Condensation Canon. Understand medical stuff you see on the web and stop blankly passing over country names in the newspaper. And above all, laugh with Dan and Yael, two musical nerds who will have you idly singing about your digestive system as you drive to work. | | I first got wind of drummer and composer John Hollenbeck about five years ago, not so long after I moved to New York City. According to the Village Voice, there was a smart new music scene bubbling up in the East Village at a healthy distance from the well established, capital-D "Downtown" scene centered around the Knitting Factory – and Hollenbeck was somewhere near the center of it. In specific, something besides java was brewing at alt.coffee, a homey little Internet café that resembled a college dorm room with a service counter. Every Monday night, the venue played host to the Refuseniks, an intrepid little trio of musical explorers comprised of Hollenbeck, accordion player Ted Reichman – then making waves as a member of Anthony Braxton’s latest bands and David Krakauer’s turbocharged klezmer trio – and bassist Reuben Radding. Many patrons did their level best to ignore the group as they surfed the web, but eventually word began to spread about the new music percolati... (less)Blueshift CRI | $124 amazon.com |

| | About - CD2312 - I'M ON FIRE The songs on this album were originally released by BBC RadioPlay Music -- and were used as the sound tracks for the Troy Cory Show video taped at Warner Bros. Now, this record is available for sale on the world wide web, (Amazon.com, Yahoo.com and smart90.com). Priscilla Cory positively burns her way through the grooves of this "I'm On Fire" recording. The driving upbeat sounds of the 70s and 80s have been more varied than those of the 90s, when Madona reigned as the supreme female singer and her musical style influenced nearly all pop female music. This album is a varied collection of hit songs of the seventies and contains roughly equal proportions of British and American product. Priscilla back-up singers include Keith & Troy and the Brooke Sisters. The photos on this album include Deadmans Curve and Disappointment Diaries featuring Richard Hatch, Priscilla Cory, Bruce Davison, Nancie White, Benny Hill, Allan Hall Jr and Troy & Joey Lauren Adams (less) | $14 amazon.com |
