Col. Worf, who defended Admiral Kirk and Dr. McCoy in a sensational trial in 2293, Lt. Worf was orphaned as a child in a Romulan attack. He was rescued and later adopted by Sergey Rozhenko, crew member of the U.S.S. Intrepid. Worf was the first Klingon to enter and graduate from Starfleet Academy. He remains Starfleets only Klingon officer. At first he was flight control officer for the Enterprise. Later, upon the death of Lt. Yar, Worf was made full lieutenant and Chief of Security.
