 | This astonishing, scintillating collection from the silent era, most of which are from the 1920s, are genuine, legitimate and by today's hardcore standards, amazingly charming, pornographic short films that leave nothing to the imagination. From predictable fantasy scenarios - monk spies on, then joins naughty nuns; teacher must spank naughty schoolgirls - to more esoteric fare (homosexuality and animal ecstasy, to name just two), vintage porn has never been more accessible...or attainable. The 12 shorts in The Good Old Naughty Days were primarily designed to be shown in the waiting rooms of brothels, amusing patrons - and no doubt giving them some ideas - as they awaited their girl. They also reveal production standards far in advance of comparable films being made elsewhere at the time, as well as an inventive and often humorous array of diverse couplings. These films were usually created in a haphazard fashion in an afternoon with friends and local prostitutes lendin... (less) Director: Michel Reilhac | $12 - $24 7 Merchants |
| | Wonderfully preposterous as whodunits go, Cadfael proves that sleuthing for clues in 12th-century England can be hazardous to a "mere" monk's health. In this 1994 episode, Brother Cadfael (Derek Jacobi) becomes entangled in a murder investigation. A wealthy landowner disinherits his stepson (played by then-unknown Jonny Lee Miller) and wills his estate to Shrewsbury Abbey, home of Cadfael's clerical order. But the brutal old fellow is soon poisoned, and Cadfael is alone in doubting the boy's culpability. The case becomes more urgent after the incorrigible monk discovers the suspect's mother is a sweetheart he left behind after joining the Crusades 40 years earlier. Complicating matters is growing corruption at the abbey following news of the deceased man's benevolence. As usual, Cadfael's fearlessness at pursuing truth in the face of powerful interests, along with Jacobi's knowing performance, is the most compelling element of this medieval thriller. --Tom Keogh (less) Director: Sebastian Graham Jones, Graham Theakston ♦ Actors: Eoin McCarthy, Anthony Green (II) | $10 - $30 9 Merchants |

| | Getting martial-arts superstars Jet Li and Jackie Chan together in the same action film is like a fantasy come true, even if The Forbidden Kingdom is more of a children's movie than an instant kung-fu classic. Yes, Li and Chan square off in a lengthy, acrobatic fight scene that is a lot of fun, though it can't be what such a scene might have been even a decade ago: careful editing now compensates for the 54-year-old Chan's slower moves and reflexes. Still, Chan doesn't disappoint as Lu Yan, a drunken immortal in ancient China who mentors a modern-day American kid, Jason (Michael Angarano), the latter having slipped into the past while in possession of a magical staff that belongs to the imprisoned Monkey King (Li). In order to get back to his own time and help an old friend (also Chan) wounded by thugs, Jason accompanies Lu Yan and a lovely warrior, Golden Sparrow (Liu Yifei), on a journey to return the staff. Along the way, a (mostly) silent monk (Li, again), who has spent his lif... (less) Actors: Jet Li | $7 - $36 12 Merchants |

| | Named by Rolling Stone as one of 2005 s Top Ten Artists to Watch, Amos Lee has opened for Bob Dylan and toured with Norah Jones. Pretty heady stuff for a 27-year-old from south Philadelphia who had just quit his last job teaching elementary school and released his first-ever album. Critics and music buffs alike were so enamored by his quiet, understated but soulful singing style that it seemed he could do no wrong. This performance, recorded on August 10, 2005, captures all the gems from that first album and then some. Possibly nothing sums it up better than the simply beautiful Arms Of A Woman, which sounds like an instant classic that could ve come from the likes of Ray Charles. Unlike Ray, Amos was a late bloomer, more interested in basketball than music, until he majored in English in college and tried his hand at songwriting to fine-tune his poetry. Working in a jazz record store and listening to Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk only deepened his passion to pursue his own musica... (less)Artist: Amos Lee | $10 - $18 8 Merchants |
