John Waite was the lead rock singer and bassist of The Babys, a British group which had moderate chart success and a solid following for their concert tours. Over the course of five years, the Babys produced five albums ending with the final album, On the Edge, in October 1980, after which the group broke up. He was lead vocalist for supergroup, Bad English (consisting of Babys' Jonathan Cain and Ricky Phillips along with Neal Schon from Journey and drummer Deen Castronovo). Waite has toured and recorded as a solo artist. BGO Records. UK. 2008. (less)BGO Records | $14 amazon.com |
| | Brand new album from Australian abroad, Danny George Wilson, whose debut solo album (released on Rogue Records) was a critics fave here and in Europe. Danny's new album is a big step... where his debut was all homespun porchstyle troubadouring, by comparison his new LP is near epic in scope, a huge patchwork quilt of country, folk, Americana, balladeering, and psychedelic pop. The album features contributions from members of Brakes, Goldrush, Electric Soft Parade and Neal Casal (Ryan Adams' Cardinals). The Longtime Listener version includes a stunning bonus track, "Wilson's Arms", a Lal Waterson cover from the `Migrating Bird' tribute album. Danny also fronts renowned UK country rock outfit, Grand Drive, with his brother. (less)Longtime Listener | $32 amazon.com |
| | 2008 debut album from this outfit led by Grand Drive's Danny George Wilson featuring contributions from Neal Casal and members of Brakes, Goldrush, Electric Soft Parade and others. Danny And The Champions Of The World talk of music and brotherhood, good times and the cosmic yee-haa. Keep your eyes peeled and your ear to the ground - they say you can be a Champ too! This album is the product of a summer spent roaming the countryside along with various friends. Soon christened The Champions Of The World, this traveling band of brothers and sisters were to be found playing impromptu festivals, club-nights and house parties across the land. Some say they're the acoustic world's answer to the Black Mountain Army while others claim they invoke the spirit of The Grateful Dead. What is certain is that Danny Wilson has moved on and in doing so has found his true voice. Loose Music. (less)Msi Music/Super D | $26 amazon.com |
