creator-writer-producer Manny Coto dreamed up this provocative pastiche of sci-fi ideas, connecting an end-of-the-world scenario with a time-travel twist and an alien invasion plot with X-Files overtones. But the plot isn't really the point-- The Wash is a loose, ambling collection of off-hand jokes, character portraits, and girls in tight clothes, much in the same vein as Friday or I Got the Hook-Up . Cameos include Shaquille O'Neal, Ludacris, Pauly Shore (as a mob victim tied up in a car trunk), and Eminem. The movie asserts that love is truly blind, but absurd twists of plot make Luis appear more stupid than passionate. a jailbreak film, which takes a surreal veer into an American invasion of Cuba apparently hampered by military budget cuts ("Once all seven of them are in place, the invasion really begins") before ending up in an American tungsten mine. Why? Who knows, but the bots have a ball skewering the film with some of their funniest comments ("I want to hurt this movie but I can never hurt it the way it hurt me") and Mike Nelson becomes so disturbed he turns into Carol Channing.
