| | Marking the 20th Anniversary of Nirvana s debut album, Sub Pop will re-issue the Platinum Certified Bleach on November 3, 2009. This expanded CD will include special packaging & a never-before-released live performance. Originally recorded over three sessions with producer Jack Endino at Seattle's Reciprocal Recording Studios in December 1988 and January 1989, Bleach was released in June of 1989 and remains unequivocally/unsurprisingly Sub Pop's very favorite Nirvana full-length. The album initially sold 40,000 copies, but was brought into the international spotlight following the release and worldwide success of their 1991 sophomore effort, Nevermind. Subsequently Bleach went on to sell 1.7 million copies in the US alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan. This 20th Anniversary Edition has been re-mastered from the original tapes at Sterling Sound in a session overseen by producer Jack Endino. This edition will include an unreleased live recording of a complete February 9th, 1990 show... (less)Artist: Nirvana | $12 - $17 7 Merchants |

The group won seven awards for that album at the 2008 International Bluegrass Music Awards Show, including Album of the Year. Brothers from Different Mothers presents the band at a level of synergy that only comes from constant live performing. It exudes the enthusiasm of a venture still fresh for all its participants. Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent have been bluegrass musicians throughout their careers, and never depart from that core sensibility on Brothers from Different Mothers But, like the earliest icons, they also push the bluegrass envelope. | | 2009 two disc (CD/DVD) release featuring 17 live tracks (CD) plus The Hold Steady Documentary (DVD). In the last three years, the Hold Steady have a come a long way. They've gone from being everyone's favorite bar band in their hometown of Minneapolis to critically acclaimed, international heavyweights. The band's newest studio album, Stay Positive, adorns just about every tastemaker Top 10 list of 2008, and the album has now sold over 100,000 copies worldwide. The band's live show is a big part of their success. While some fans try and keep up with Craig Finn's now-renowned vocals, some just shake with joy and try to mimic Finn's white-guy dance moves. A Positive Rage is not only a live album but, through a documentary style DVD, also gives fans a look behind a band that has risen from the Indie Rock underbelly to being the voice for hundreds of thousands of beer swilling men and women that are out to have a good time. | | At the heart of every great rock and roll band lie four essential elements: bass, drums, guitars and vocals. That, in its purest essence, is JET. And JET, in their purest essence, have again captured those elements with their third album, Shaka Rock . With their previous releases- 2003's Get Born and 2006's Shine On - JET broke out of their native Australia and established themselves as a multi-platinum, international success story, merging the charisma and energy of classic rock and roll with just enough punk swagger and contemporary flair to create something uniquely theirs. Here at last is a band that's returning the cool to rock and roll. 2009's Shaka Rock reveals new dimensions of JET while never losing the raw roots of Get Born or the grace and melody of Shine On , which together went on to make JET an international band of style and substance. Review: CBS Radio "...Rock explodes out of the gate with big guitars and even bigger ambitions..." (less)Artist: JET | $6 - $16 9 Merchants |
| | Hayley Westenra's new album Odyssey was always going to be a different proposition to Pure , the record-breaking 2003 collection which marked her international debut. A lot has happened to the young New Zealander over the past two or three years--and those changes are clearly reflected by a record which encapsulates her growth from a budding teenage prodigy into a mature young woman. Now, at 18, Hayley is ready to show the world how much she has grown up, both as an artist and as an individual. Fans of Pure will be pleasantly surprised by her new album. Her wonderful voice retains its crystal-clear purity, but Westenra's singing is now richer and more rounded than before. Touring the world and singing in some of its greatest concert venues, such as the Sydney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall, and Carnegie Hall, has worked wonders for her confidence. Suitably emboldened, she has embraced an even wider range of musical styles including classical, hymns, folk and pop. "I was happy with P... (less)Artist: Hayley Westenra | $10 - $20 9 Merchants |
| | Fashion be damned: Pop culture is just one big Hometown Buffet for writer-director Quentin Tarantino. Nowhere has that sensibility been more apparent than on his hand-picked soundtrack choices, and this oft tongue-in-cheek tale of a female assassin's revenge (his first film in six years) is no exception. With dizzy, almost palpable glee, Tarantino evokes the international hall-of-mirrors influences that energize martial arts films and much of Asian pop culture in general. Thus the hip-hop of Wu Tang's RZA (who, along with composer Charles Bernstein, concocts what passes for the score's traditional cues) somehow finds itself but one ingredient in a heady souffle that includes vintage TV and film cue rarities (Al Hirt's main title from The Green Hornet , Bernard Herrmann's haunting theme from Twisted Nerve , the spaghetti western melodrama of Luis Bacalov's "The Grand Duel," Isaac Hayes in full blaxploitation mode on "Run Fay Run"), Charlie Feathers' vintage rockabilly a...
