| | One of the greatest albums in the annals of bluegrass music (***** All Music Guide), 1961 s Foggy Mountain Banjo secured Flatt & Scruggs reputation among the burgeoning folk music movement, and set a seldom-surpassed standard for instrumental virtuosity in a genre that prides itself on just that! And it wasn t just Flatt s flatpicking and Scruggs banjo, either; the Foggy Mountain Boys were one smokin backup band, with dobroist Josh Graves, fiddler Paul Warren and drummer Buddy Harman all playing key roles. Includes Ground Speed ; Home Sweet Home ; Sally Ann ; Little Darlin Pal of Mine ; Reuben ; Cripple Creek ; Lonesome Road Blues ; John Henry ; Fireball Mail ; Sally Goodwin ; Bugle Call Rag , and Cumberland Gap . Rich Kienzle adds new liner notes. A Collectors Choice Music exclusive! (less)Artist: | $10 - $14 7 Merchants |
| | The late L.A. session guitar genius Jerry Cole has long been worshipped for his work with everyone from the Beach Boys and the Byrds to Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley and by surf fans as the leader of the Spacemen. But unbeknownst to many, Cole was also the driving force behind the Animated Egg, a fictitious band whose lone, self-titled LP is one of the greatest psychedelic exploitation records ever to hit the budget bins of U.S. chain stores--and eventually the want lists of big-spending DJs and collectors. Comprised of splashy, fuzz-drenched "Now Sound" instrumental groovers, The Animated Egg easily lives up to both the eBay hype and the promise of its evocative track titles: "Sure Listic," "Sock It My Way," "Sippin' and Trippin'," and--yes indeed--"I Said, She Said, Ah Cid." In addition to the rare self-titled LP by the Animated Egg, this collection also includes cuts by other related Cole projects: the Projection Company, the Generation Gap, T. Swift & the Electric Bag, and t... (less)Artist: Animated Egg | $11 - $19 8 Merchants |
| | Hank Thompson is one of the integral figures in the creation of modern country music. The sound he created with his Brazos Valley Boys bridged the gap between Western swing and honky tonk, and he played a dominant role in the country music scene of the 1950s and beyond. A Kentucky-born Florida resident until his recent death, Gary Stewart was revered by Texas country music fans. Johnny Rodriguez hit the country music scene in 1973 with his Top 10 hit "Pass Me By (If You're Only Passing Through)." Dale Watson is recognized as the leader of the back-to-basics honky tonk country movement. (less)Artist: Various Artists | $2 - $19 9 Merchants |

| | 2007 three CD set that celebrates the original, unadulterated sound of Ska. Featuring a who's who of Ska greats from Lee Perry and Desmond Dekker to Nick Thomas and Dandy Livingston, these are the tunes that have rocked dancefloors for nearly half a century and sound as fresh and vital today as they did when they were first written. This collection has been split into three equal, but different portions. The opening set is largely rude boy and troublesome girl business. Disc Two bridges the gap between Ska and Rocksteady, opening with The Ethiopians' 'Train To Skaville', itself more Rocksteady than Ska and recorded in 1967 just as Rocksteady was about to take over. The third segment celebrates that unique moment at the end of the '60s and the start of the '70s when Ska really was embraced by British youth and it was nothing unusual for a Jamaican act to turn up in the UK charts. 59 tracks. | | A CD is always more compelling when you know it's lifted from the artist's autobiography, and that's certainly the case with Confession , Usher's first record since 2001's 8701 . The Atlanta singer's string of hits over the past decade have been decidedly PG-13 rated, almost veering towards teen pop, but he's changed all that on this co-produced offering, which he claims is "the real him." It would be too simplistic to just brand this record a break-up record, chronicling his public split with TLC's Rozonda "Chili" Thomas; it is that, but so much more. It would be more accurate to call this Usher's coming of age record, bridging the gap from boy to man, as he navigates the emotional fallout from the disintegration of his relationship, and the events that led up to it--real or imagined. But other than a guilty conscience, it seems unclear why Usher feels compelled to disgorge his secret life, as he documents his infidelities, transgressions, and emotional perfidy in the album's prodi... | | Richmond, Virginia's The Setup blast through thirteen minutes of their hardest offerings to date. Combining elements of hardcore, punk rock, and straight up metal, these southern boys detonate chunky guitar riffs that would make any early Metallica fan go nuts with collapsing vocals. The results? An overly aggressive and sadistic composition for fans of everything from Converge to Tragedy. Features Chris Kirby from Light The Fuse And Run on guitar. Schematic Of A Waking Life lay down four tracks of post hardcore perfection. Songs suggestive of a DC sound from the 1990's brewed with the updated offerings of Hot Cross and Off Minor. These New Englanders manage to be melodic and catchy without loosing their frantic edge. Desperate and controlled. Passionate and angry. 1 Calling All Ninjas - The Setup 2 Does This Record Look Good On Me - The Setup 3 Post-Graduate Barbarian - The Setup 4 Symbolic Gaps - Schematic Of A Waking Life 5 From Lion To Child - Schematic Of A Waking Life 6...
