| | This weaving technique allows you to weave without a loom. It involves simple tools--card-weaving cards and yarn. This video teaches the basic techniques of card weaving, how to measure the warp, thread the cards, set up and weave patterned bands and how to stitch bands together to form larger fabrics. Once the enclosed pattern is selected and the cards are threaded, the weaving goes very quickly. This course involves two projects. The first project is a cotton band which can be used as a belt, neck piece, or strap. The second project, using wool, involves a completely different warping and weaving process and produces numerous patterns which will be woven in four bands which can be stitched together to form a handsome tote bag or purse. All you need are card weaving cards and cotton or wool yarn. (less)Yarn Barn of Kansas | $35 amazon.com |
| | Located in the heart of California's Central Valley, the city of Stockton is a railfan's paradise. Several major Union Pacific routes merge into a high-speed, double-track mainline running through the center of town. The double-track main of BNSF's Stockton Subdivision crosses the UP line, bringing even more rail traffic to the already busy area. On March 31, 2008, TSG Multimedia's cameras filmed every train that came through the area near the BNSF/UP crossing from late morning until late in the afternoon. In addition to regular UP and BNSF freight trains, there are BNSF trackage-rights trains entering and leaving the UP, light engine movements, a UP local pulled by a pair of patched ex-SP and Cotton Belt GPs, as well as Amtrak California San Joaquin and Altamont Commuter Express (ACE) trains. | | Since 1986, the Santa Cruz, Big Trees & Pacific has been hauling passengers and freight between the small mountain town of Felton, California, and the beaches at Santa Cruz. This former Southern Pacific branch line winds through spectacular mountain scenery, over tall bridges, and down to the very edge of the Pacific Ocean - right on to the beach! Motive power is provided by a pair of ex-Santa Fe CF7 diesel locomotives, often running long-hood forward! This video has plenty of footage of CF7s in action hauling both passengers and freight. There's even a meet with the Union Pacific Santa Cruz local behind a trio of former Southern Pacific and Cotton Belt GPs! The narration includes both historical and current information about the line. The video footage is the result of hiking over the entire active part of the railroad to find the best locations, and many days of shooting. In addition, there is a bonus chapter featuring Roaring Camp & Big Trees narrow-gauge Heisler No. 2, the Tuol... (less) | $30 amazon.com |
