 | It's the mid-1940s. In the midst of a "Barber Shop Era" comes a new quartet-Oak Ridge Quartet. Their harmonies and energy transformed the music scene and quickly made them what many consider consider to be the top quartet of their day. Years have gone by...but Common Threads remain-four part harmony; love for God, faith, family and country; an ability to bring a stage to life. Enjoy an "uncommonly" successful group joined through the years by a Common Thread. (less)Artist: The Oak Ridge Boys | $1 - $20 10 Merchants |

| | Around the time of Cupid & Psyche 85 's release, Scritti Politti mastermind Green Gartside was fond of citing deconstructionist theory as an influence on his subversion of boy-meets-girl lyrics. He might just as well have named Elvis Costello, given the trenchant nature of bubbly-on-the-surface pop tunes such as the U.S. Top 20 single "Perfect Way" ("You want a margin of error for two") and "The Word Girl" ("The girl was never real / She stands for your abuse"). With veteran Aretha/Dusty/Bee Gees cohort Arif Mardin on board for several cuts, and contributions by pop subversives such as Fred Maher and Robert Quine, Cupid remains a classic of hyperintelligent post-new-wave pop funk. --Rickey Wright (less)Artist: Scritti Politti | $4 - $10 9 Merchants |
| | After making his major mark on the music scene in 2004 via Southside the Top 20-placing love-struck anthem on which he collaborated with Ashanti, Lloyd released his debut disc of the same title. In the years that have followed, he’s proven himself as a legitimate industry player, generating hits like 2006’s chart-topping 'YOU' and the infectious 'GET IT SHAWTY' which saw Top two placement last year. The latter was spawned from his gold-selling sophomore disc, Street Love. In Summer of 2008, Lloyd returns with his third effort, Lessons In Love. The hard-driving lead-in single, 'How We Do It' featuring Ludacris, a party track written by Lloyd and Wood Works and produced by Baby Boy & Superkidd, cleared the way for his new smash follow-up single, 'Girls Around The World' featuring Lil Wayne. Lloyd also enlisted some additional heat working with Polow Da Don and the team of Tricky & Dream 'Umbrella' & 'Bed'. Lloyd is ready to embrace maturity. With a successful recording career, obv... | | Before there was a Destiny's Child there was En Vogue. Once dubbed the Supremes of the '90s after snaring two consecutive number one hits in 1990 and three Top Ten hits three years later, the Oakland-based group went through an identity crisis when lead singer Dawn Robinson left the band in 1997. In 2003 the band was able to regain their equilibrium after Rhonda Bennett, a former regular on the Jamie Foxx Show, joined founding members Terry Ellis and Cindy Herron in the line-up after talks with Robinson and other original member Maxine Jones fell through. Though Robinson’s dash and sass is sorely missed, this new configuration blends pristine vocal arrangements and close jazzy harmonies that approaches some of the original band’s best moments. While there’s some real gems on the disc--like the coy-but-clever "Ooh Boy," the arch ache of "Dissed Him," and the spiteful "All You See," which is as sneering as anything Missy Elliot is putting out--much of the disc just doesn't li... | | When B5 first back-flipped onto the music scene in 2005, young girls everywhere took one look at the handsome Breeding brothers and gasped with joy. Ranging in ages from 11 to 17 the brothers were the perfect package: good looking, talented, charming. Their self-titled debut CD was a top 20 hit on the Billboard 200 and peaked at number seven on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Chart. Their images graced fanzine covers month after month and they created a frenzy everywhere they went. They even caused the shut down of a Minneapolis mall when some 2000 fans rushed the stage during a free concert there. After a seemingly unending round of tours and promotional appearances and a successful alliance with the Disney phenomenon known as High School Musical, the five Breeding brothers of B5, consisting of Dustin 19, Kelly 18, Patrick 16, Carnell 15 and Bryan 13, are back, all grown up and showing off a new mature sound. | | Hank Thompson is one of the integral figures in the creation of modern country music. The sound he created with his Brazos Valley Boys bridged the gap between Western swing and honky tonk, and he played a dominant role in the country music scene of the 1950s and beyond. A Kentucky-born Florida resident until his recent death, Gary Stewart was revered by Texas country music fans. Johnny Rodriguez hit the country music scene in 1973 with his Top 10 hit "Pass Me By (If You're Only Passing Through)." Dale Watson is recognized as the leader of the back-to-basics honky tonk country movement. (less)Artist: Various Artists | $2 - $19 9 Merchants |

| | THE TEXAS HONKY TONK BLUES is western swing, traditional country and Texas shuffle featuring twin fiddles with steel guitar and top notch vocal. THE TEXAS HONKY TONK BLUES is a somewhat autobiographical story-in-songs of a man whose career stretches back to the early 1950's, the golden era of country music. The songs were recorded in Nashville, Tennessee resulting in a fusion of even handed honky tonk and western swing that Durwood learned as a boy in the Lone Star State. Each performance is the real thing, not rock music that calls itself country and ain't. (less)Artist: Durwood Haddock | $4 - $18 2 Merchants |
